Current Events: A Look Back at ANZAC Day

We completed some activities on the Chromebooks today to find out something about ANZAC Day around New Zealand and to practise the digital skills we learnt with Mrs Grant yesterday. Some of us found it a bit tricky taking a partial screenshot at first!

SOLDIER

We are learning to write different kinds of poems.  Last week Saluselo created an acrostic SOLDIER poem which he read at our special ANZAC assembly last Friday.

Remembering at assembly

Ruapotaka held an assembly on Friday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in front of our Field of Remembrance.  Thank you, Saluselo, for reading your "Soldier" poem.

Remembering at the Museum

On Thursday we explored the displays about Gallipoli and World War One at Auckland War Memorial Museum.  We learnt a lot about the tough life of a soldier then.  Most of us felt sad in the Sanctuary looking at the walls and seeing the names of so many soldiers who died.

The favourite part of the visit was the special Minecraft exhibition about Gallipoli.  Some of us put on the goggles and tried out the activities.

Successful landings!

We have been learning to make a "snail trail" around our "selfie" image using Pixlr so we can land in a place we would like to visit.  We needed to use a lot of Chromebook skills that we have learnt this term to achieve this.

We have had some challenges learning how to cut out part of a photograph using Pixlr. We are learning to be patient and persevere.  We are learning to work together and help each other.

Some of us have landed successfully.  We will add other slides as we all reach our learning goal and arrive at our destination.

Easter eggs and bunny hops

Room 9 and Room 10 enjoyed some eggsellent eggsercise this morning! After an egg and spoon relay, our teams hopped to it and helped each other through some rabbit holes.
