Tapa

We have been learning about traditional methods of making tapa from the mulberry tree. Isabell brought a piece of traditional Tongan tapa so that we could look at the patterns created using different stencils and dyes.  She also showed us her woven kiekie that she wears on special occasions.

  2. Hi Room 10, I really like reading about Isabell's tapa from Tonga. I think Isabell's tapa is very interesting and also I like how they paint the pattens to make the tapa look nice. I think that Isabell's family work really hard to make this tapa. Does Room 10 like Isabell's tapa?

You're welcome to come and take a closer look at it any morning. Isabell will be able to answer your questions next week.
