Some pictures sharing the achievements of all the speakers at yesterday's speech finals.  You can all be very proud of yourselves!

Valerie Adams by Meana

Meana, you did so much research about Valerie Adams that you could have written a book like Tony Baloney. You put a lot of effort into organising your information, so that you could shrink your speech to around 3 minutes. Everyone loved how you presented your ideas today.  Outstanding!

Azonto, Azonto

Skipping, stepping, slapping, clapping ... we danced our way very quickly around the Commonwealth showing our moves and skills to family and whanau visitors this afternoon. If you'd like to see the video, please come and watch in our classroom ... Now watch me do my Azonto, Azonto, Azonto ...

Waving the Commonwealth flags ...

Building on the skills we learnt yesterday, we each created the flag of a Commonwealth country in a Google drawing by inserting shapes and changing the colours.  Which countries are represented here?

Cross-country 2014

We watched the juniors run around the school field with so much energy ... and
then it was our turn to show our speed as we ran around the road course.
Sione and Sebastian showed their amazing pace from start to finish.
Running shoulder to shoulder, Sione was the first Year 5 boy,
while Sebastian was the first Year 6 boy home.
Check out our video tomorrow ...

More photographs

Today some more students took photographs while they listened to each other read.  Mrs Buchanan has learnt how to share this from the class tablet straight to our blog!

Some tense moments...

We have been so busy learning in Room 10 this week that we forgot to take any photographs.  Mrs Grant has started teaching us how to use the chromebooks to support our learning.  We listened to some interesting speeches, enjoyed buddy reading with Room 5, and spent some time learning a few dance moves for our display.

Reading about photographs

The blue reading group experimented taking photographs and filming with our tablet after they had discussed a School Journal article about Kiwi photographer, Adrian Heke. Adrian taught himself how to use his first camera and has since taken photographs in war zones, as well as capturing sporting action shots for some School Journal articles.  There must have been a lot of photographers at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to capture all of that sporting action.

A whale of a journey!

You have only been with us in Room 10 for a few months, Tia, but we are sad that you are leaving.  We will miss your enthusiasm during all our sporting activities.  How exciting for you to be returning to Australia!

Crouch, touch, set ...

The Year 5/6 under 50kg rugby team enjoyed running, passing, tackling and scoring a few tries at today's interschools rugby tournament.  Mr Reid was very proud of your efforts and your positive attitude.  We enjoyed hearing your stories about the games in class this afternoon.  Well done!
